My Pokemon Character, Ran, along with her starter Pokemon, a Mightyena nicknamed Growlzer.
The big brownish blob-like thing is a pocket, and Ran has two of them in her coat, one to carry her pokeballs, the other to carry supplies and medicines.
Here is their backstory:
My name is Ran. I come from a remotely unknown region and from within it, the small town of Everbudd. Were a dry village, up in the corner of a vast sandy desert. There is only one minuscule spring from which all water supply comes from. I had to get away from there. I was extremely prone to many heat emergencies and failed Pokemon School due to always being away in a hospital, getting treated for my many illnesses. Its been four, going on five, years, since I left home. I started my journey alone, hoping I could somehow get a poke of my own. But I was unsure of how. I was weak and frightened, nervous. It was my third week of walking when I finally came upon an abused Poochyena. It had been left for dead in a forest, many vulture-type Pokemon surrounded and pecked at the open wounds on its flesh. I knew I had to help somehow, so I scared the birds and began to treat the wounds. I later found out during an examination at the next town overs Pokecenter that the animal was female, and that it had had an owner beforehand. They checked her level, level seventeen.
Something big had happened there; it looked like Gang-War. Perhaps the owner, no longer wanting such a weak Pokemon, had taken their other five to gang and beat up on the girl. What a sick person! One day I would find them and avenge the weakened Pokemon.
The nurse asked me what I knew and I told her all my thoughts and feelings on the issue. She responded to my story with kindness in her voice. Well, if you want to bring her back up, I can give you the right supplies and medicines she sounded unsure of herself, she didnt know where Everbudd was or whether or not I was lying to her face. After all, I have always been a somewhat mysterious person to those around me.
I showed her the pieces to a Ball Id been making. Its almost completed. I explained with a grin. I wanted a special hand-made ball for my first-owned creature. My dad salvaged the pieces of old pokeballs and created new functional ones with them for a living. I had stolen a few essentials to help start me out. This ball was going to be critical, for I was going to use it as a necklace. It was a ball that went off-scale, so I could carry Seven Pokemon at a time and not have to worry. The top was made of purified amethyst. Above the button I would fashion a diamond with the first letter of my Pokemons name. The bottom was made of crystal. It was the perfect pokeball.
The nurse agreed to me spending the night alone in a spare room near the Poochyena. This gave me the chance to complete the pokeball.
I slaved over it for hours into the night, chipping a little bit here, and a little bit there. Soon enough it was perfectly sanded into a ball, I checked the button over again, and it popped open. The last thing to do was to add the diamond. I thought and thought. Poochy in the next room over only had a small amount of experience before its evolution of Mightyena. Blah. I heard a faint growl in the room beside me, obviously asleep. The name, Growlzer, came to mind. I remember the next moments quite clearly.
As quietly as possible I made my way out to the front reception area. I softly tapped the nurse there. Nurse ? Nurse .oh, what was her name again? Joy? Nurse Joy? She stirred awake. Yes? Quickly she stood and regained her formal posture.
If I get that Poochyena in the mornin, do I get to nickname her?
She smiled at me, a tired look in her eye. Of course, sweets, go to sleep.
I nodded and thanked her and apologized for waking her before heading back to my work. I would carve out the Diamond G and place it before heading to bed that night. Now it is five years later, and both Growlzer and I have matured in various ways. As she evolved into a Mightyena, I realized her color scheme was just a bit off; her fur seemed bluish compared to other Mightyena. Nothing too special, or at least I thought. But perhaps I was wrong, and thats why we attracted much attention. Together we caught and trained us a Pokemon team of six. Everyone shows respect for Growlzer and knows that she has all power over them; shes the alpha male, so to speak. Weve undertaken the Gym Leader Challenge, first it seemed to be just that, we blacked out frequently and I hated it. I trained Growlzer vigorously; she detested me for a while. But she got stronger, as did I. We had a love-hate relationship for nearly a year before going back to gain the badges that were rightfully ours. Afterwards we traveled through the mountains towards the undefeated Elite. The Elite Four, a quad group of some of our regions best compiled Trainers. They only acted tough, sure, yes, they were strong. Absolutely. But they were under trained, they hadnt gone through what Growlzer and I had to achieve an inseparable bond. They had that too, but the gleam in the eyes of the Pokemon werent complete, they were falsified somehow. But how could I break that to the trainers? They loved these creatures with all of their hearts. It would crush them more than being defeated had. So we passed them by to the Champions room. Ive never sweated more in my life. That battle was amazing; Growlzer left me stunned by her show of integrity and honesty to her opponent. She didnt let her guard down, not even once; she was fierce, very male-like to be honest. Then as she stood over her kill, the fainted foe, I mean, well Ive never seen her eyes beam with so much pride. She knew what it meant for her and for me. We were the next champions of our tiny misunderstood region. Thus far, no one has dared challenge us. So what do we do now? We go back to our origins for a little while and begin the journey anew.

If "Link" means something like a never-ending chain, then how come "Ganon" keeps coming back?
